Remarkable chilli/pepper variety of sweet flavour with a fruity heat.
Remarkable chilli/pepper variety of sweet flavour with a fruity heat. Discovered by Adam Alexander in a market in Donetsk, Ukraine in 1989, this sweet and gently spiced pepper has been grown in South Wales ever since with plants selected for earliness and flavour. The fruits are slightly ribbed, flattened, and about the size of an apple. When eaten fresh they are exceptionally sweet, crunchy, and full of flavour, with a subtle heat towards the top of the fruit that makes them per definition a chilli, although we think of it more like a pepper. Plants are short, stocky, and very productive, with red fruits that hold well once ripe. They can be grown outdoors in a sunny spot or under cover. Firm favourite across the Vital Seeds team and number one winner of our 2023 pepper and chilli trials. (Approximate seed count - 20)
