Red Onion - Tropea Lunga

Extremely sweet pointed red onion sought after by chefs around the world. This is probably Italy's most famous onion. It comes from the Tropea region which has the perfect climate for onion growing. The pointed pink bulbs have a very high sugar content making them perfect for caramelising. Indeed some say they are so sweet you can eat them like apples! Each to their own, but you get the point...
